Shreveport, LA

All good things must come to an end, so we are now on our way back to Reno after spending a great Thanksgiving in Pensacola, FL.  Char did an excellent job of organizing the Thanksgiving event with plenty of help from the family.  Everyone did their share and it was a great time.  Danny took a panoramic photo of the family sitting around the table (see below).

Doing it as a panoramic shot, it looked like we were all up against the wall when in reality, we were seated around the table.  Modern photo techniques are terrific.

On Wednesday, most of the group went to Pensacola Beach, but it was too cold for much swimming, However, the water was beautiful and the beaches were bright white.  Vi and I opted for a tour of Gulf Breeze, Pensacola Beach and made a round robin trip along the Gulf.  Thursday was spent preparing the turkey and all the trimmings, mixed in with some walks and various activities.  The evening was spent watching several football games - Carolyn had an extra interest in the outcomes because of some wagers placed at Biloxi on the way over to Pensacola.  Now she has a reason to stop at Biloxi on the way back to New Orleans.

Friday morning, we packed up and left for our trip back.  Tom, Danny, and JT were going to play golf while Char, George III, Katie and Carolyn went on a nature trail walk.  Our trip took us up through Mobile and then northwest through Alabama and Mississippi via US 98 and 49 up to I-20 and then west across Mississippi and Louisiana to Shreveport on the western edge of Louisiana.  Crossed back across the Mississippi River at Vicksburg and enjoyed the wide open spaces along the way.

After a short traffic jam caused by an accident, we arrived in Shreveport where we're staying at Barksdale AFB.  Went downtown along the Shreveport riverfront to Harrah's Horseshoe Casino to check out the action there.  Tomorrow, we're heading over to Dallas on I-20 and then northwest up to I-40.  May stay at Amarillo, TX tomorrow night.  Today we crossed FL, AL, MS and LA off our list, but tomorrow may just be one state - TX!

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and that you all are safe and sound.
